Featured Pet...
Our current featured pet is Koda Lister, who is the very loved and very pampered pooch
of Tail Wagger Jess Lister and her husband Matt. Here is Jess's story why her dog is so
great...

Koda was born at the Talbot County Humane Society on July 2, 2003 to a black flat-haired retriever named
Whispey.  She was the only puppy in the litter and was a total surprise to everyone at the Humane Society
because no one knew that Whispey was pregnant.  We have no idea who her dad was, but because of her
coloring we believe that she has some Shepherd in her.
in love with her.  Her mom Whispey was already being adopted by a nice family, and there was already an in
love with her.  Her mom Whispey was already being adopted by a nice family, and there was already an
application in from a family to adopt Koda.  I rushed home to tell Matt all about her, and later that evening took
him to see her.  He fell in love with her too, so I filled out an adoption application, even though I knew she would
probably go to the first family.

A few days later I got a call from the adoption coordinator, saying that the first family didn't want to have to wait
4 weeks to get her (because the humane society wouldn't separate her from her mom until she was eight
weeks old), and she was all ours.  We were sooo excited!  I went to see her at the humane society everyday
after work for four weeks, until I was able to bring her home.
Koda is definitely the best dog!!!
She loves to swim in the Corsica River at her grandparents house.  She also likes to herd goats, go for boat
rides, and absolutely loves to play with other dogs (especially her Aunt Myla, Aunt Nikki, Aunt Taylor, and Mrs.
B).  She loves stuffed animal toys, but destroys them in about 5 seconds, so most of her toys now consist of
rubber squeaky toys, kongs, and bones.  One of her favorite things is when Grandpa Abe comes over to play.
They both end up rolling around on the floor chewing bones.  Koda also loves to hike.  Matt and I have taken
her on two backpacking trips in the Shenandoah National Park.
We love to spoil her.  She sleeps with us in our bed every night.  And during the day, when she is not peeping
out of the window at the neighbors, she is napping on her favorite spot on the couch.
Koda celebrated her first birthday about three months ago - and yes....we had a doggy birthday party....with all
of her doggy friends, full with dog cookies, games, presents, and of course...doggy bags!
